China Has A Surplus In Fertilizer Trade

From January to March 2022, China exported 4.16 million tons of fertilizer and imported 2.44 million tons.


Preliminary statistics from China Customs show that from January to March 2022, China exported 4.155 million tons of various bulk element fertilizers (including ammonium chloride, potassium nitrate and animal and plant organic fertilizers, the same below), with a year-on-year decrease of 33.2%. Exports amounted to us $1.787 billion, up 11.2% year on year.


In March, all kinds of fertilizers were exported 1.609 million tons, with a year-on-year decrease of 40.2%. Exports were $710 million, down 6.0% year on year.


In terms of imports, China imported 2.436 million tons of fertilizers from January to March 2022, with a year-on-year decrease of 17.0%. The accumulative import value was US $1.047 billion, up 42.2% year on year. The average unit price of imported fertilizer in the first quarter rose by 71.3 percent year-on-year.


In March, China imported 805,000 tons of fertilizers, down 33.2% year on year. Imports were $374 million, up 11.2% from a year earlier.
